Chapter 1 - What is Worship
Paul said, "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." Worship isn't the song portion of a church service; it's much much more. David DeGarmo's experience as a worship leader, pastor, and educator gives him a valuable perspective that can help you learn more about developing a lifestyle of worship.
Chapter 2 - How to Have a Successful Worship Service
Have you ever left a worship service at church saying, "I really didn't get much out of that worship service. It wasn't really good?" Have you ever stopped to consider what you mean by "a good service?" If, like Dr. DeGarmo says, worship is the primary formational activity of the Church, what does it mean to do that successfully? In this chapter, David unpacks what it means to have a successful, a "good" worship service. His answer might make it a little easier for you to say, "That was a good worship service!"
Chapter 3 - Developing Habits of Prayer and Bible Reading
Habits of reading the Bible and Prayer don't happen overnight. They take time to develop. And it's tempting to think about those habits as something that only helps you grow as an individual. But because you belong to the body of Christ, they're so much more than that. In this chapter, David tells about his own journey of developing those habits, both by himself and with his family.
Chapter 4 - Cultivating a Lifestyle of Worship
You were created to worship. Everything about you and everything you do was created to bring glory to God. It's tough to remember that though when bills pile up and the kids get sick. In this chapter, David talks about how can you cultivate a lifestyle of worship that continues to worship God even in the middle of life's crazy mess.
